The Government has launched new guidance to assist businesses and organisations to comply with Australia’s new Modern Slavery Act.

Assistant Minister for Customs, Community Safety and Multicultural Affairs, Jason Wood, said the guidance would help organisations take effective action to address modern slavery practices.

“Australia is the first country to release detailed guidance to assist organisations with identifying and combating modern slavery in their supply chains,” Mr Wood said.

“This follows the introduction of Australia’s landmark Modern Slavery Act, which came into force on 1 January 2019.”

“Australia is an international leader in combatting modern slavery and I look forward to working with businesses and civil society to take strong, meaningful action to address these issues.”
