Fortescue Metals Group (Fortescue) has been welcomed to the Australian Trusted Trader program by Assistant Minister for Customs, Community Safety and Multicultural Affairs Jason Wood MP.
Fortescue is one of the largest iron ore producers in the world, shipping 170 million tonnes of ore per annum from the Pilbara, Western Australia.
"The international trade environment is ever-changing at a rapid pace, Australian Trusted Trader ensures that we are able to maintain a safe and secure Australia. I am honoured to be able to welcome Fortescue to the program," Assistant Minister Wood said.
"Australian Trusted Trader is changing the way we work with our international trading partners in managing the movement of goods across our borders."
"Mutual Recognition Agreements (MRAs) will provide companies like Fortescue, who is the core supplier of seaborne iron ore to China, a more streamlined process for clearing their goods at the border," Assistant Minister Wood said.
Fortescue joins 86 other West Australian businesses in the Australian Trusted Trader program—the third highest state result.
