Immediate financial support has been made available to those hard-hit by bushfires in Queensland’s Livingstone and Noosa Shires.
Both the Australian Government Disaster Recovery Payment and the Disaster Recovery Allowance have been activated for both shires.
“The Disaster Recovery Payment is $1000 for eligible adults and $400 for eligible children,” Minister Littleproud said.
“The payment is for people whose homes have been severely damaged or destroyed, who have been seriously injured or who have lost a family member in the fires.
“This is cash in the hand to help give families dignity as they recover from the fires.
“The Disaster Recovery Allowance will give up to 13 weeks income support for eligible applicants.
“The allowance is for people who have lost their income as a direct result of the fires.
“These programmes are on top of the support provided through the Commonwealth-State Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements.
“Both payments will be available from 13 November 2019.
“The bushfires have destroyed homes and devastated local communities.
“We’ll provide further support once Queensland authorities can assess damage on the fire ground.
“Anyone who’s been hit by the fires can check their eligibility by calling 180 22 66 or at www.humanservices.gov.au/disaster”
