Additional assistance is available for farmers, small businesses and non-profit organisations in the Wangaratta area who were hit by floods in December.
The additional assistance is being provided through the jointly funded Commonwealth-State Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements.
Minister for Natural Disaster and Emergency Management David Littleproud said eligible applicants can get concessional interest rate loans of up to $200,000.
“The flooding caused wide-spread damage to farms and many are still feeling the effects,” Minister Littleproud said.
“This will help keep farms, businesses and charities running, protecting jobs and the local economy.
“The loans can save thousands of dollars in interest and will help get things back to normal sooner.”
Minister for Police and Emergency Services Lisa Neville said the additional assistance is being provided based on impact assessments and ongoing consultation with affected communities.
“I encourage all primary producers, small businesses and non-profit organisations who have suffered direct damage or a significant loss of income from these storms and floods to contact Rural Finance on 1800 260 425 or online at www.ruralfinance.com.au.”
