The Australian Government will provide additional funding of $550,000 to Ukrainian and other community organisations to support Ukrainian nationals in Australia.
This funding is in addition to $450,000 previously provided to the Australian Federation of Ukrainian Organisations as part of the Australian Government’s ongoing commitment to support displaced Ukrainians and their immediate family members.
Minister for Immigration, Citizenship, and Multicultural Affairs, Andrew Giles MP said that Ukrainian-Australian community organisations have been instrumental in providing support to new arrivals and raising funds for those affected by the crisis.
“With over 8,600 visas granted to Ukrainians since the invasion, it’s clear to me that there is currently a need for more support. This additional funding will enable community organisations to expand capacity to effectively respond to the ongoing needs of Ukrainians seeking safety.” Minister Giles said.
“The funding is part of the Government’s ongoing support for Ukrainians and aligns with the Government’s recent commitment to ensure that Ukrainian nationals and their families have access to the full range of Australia visas they are eligible for.
“This will help ensure that the Ukrainian cohort can continue to find safety in the Australian community for as long as they need.”
